Effinger and Overmeiren explore the use of fantastical strategies from fantasy and science fiction to recover from emotional trauma. The vengeance of hell boils in my heart Death and Despair blaze around me Outcast be forever Forsaken be forever Everyday is a making love to me day forever Everyday is a making love to me day never MOON NOT WAR (founded in February 2018) are Anna McCarthy, Antenne Danger, Ruben Granados-Hughes and Shino Plum. In M.N.W. McCarthy writes and sings texts about borderline sexual experiences accompanied by a humming and creaky bass, while Danger‘s hypnotic choral singing with an epic keyboard sound reminds of Morricone and Beak, Granados hits the drums as if it was a piece of meat and Plum underscores it all with minimal guitar, giving goose bumps. DE Vasen sind für uns alltägliche Begleiter. In der gängigen Funktion des Behälters für Blumen schaffen sie eine Schnittstelle zwischen Architektur, Gestaltung und Natur in unseren privaten Wohnräumen. Dabei sind sie eines der wenigen Objekte, denen wir auch im Moment der Nicht-Funktionserfüllung ästhetische Qualität zusprechen. Abseits des dekorativen Moments stehen sie für eine lange Kulturgeschichte der Vase als Träger von Geschichte(n), bis hin zur Urne als Container für den menschlichen Körper. Somit sind sie zugleich Kommunikationsmedien zwischen dem Außen und Innen, dem Jetzt und dem Vergangenen, sowie als Stellvertreter unserer architektonischen sowie menschlichen Hülle. Jenen Charakter des körperlichen Füllhorns und Moment potentieller Aktivierung zwischen Objekt und Subjekt widmet sich die Ausstellung Vessel in Motion. Vier internationale KünstlerInnen zeigen skulpturale Arbeiten, die sich explizit mit der Form, Funktion, Kulturgeschichte sowie Kontextverschiebung von Vasen auseinandersetzen. In den Vasen-Skulpturen aufgeworfene Fragen von Animismus, Körperlichkeit, Feminismus, Repräsentation und Formgebung werden während der Ausstellung von drei KünstlerInnen im Moment der Aufführung auf unterschiedliche Weise zurückgespiegelt und erweitert. Ein raumbezogenes Ausstellungsdisplay bietet sowohl eine Bühne für die Performances als auch eine fließende Einbindung der Vasen in die spezifische Architektur des KV. EN A vase is an everyday companion. In their prevalent function as a container for flowers, vases establish an intersection between architecture, design and nature in our private living spaces. In doing so, they are one of the few objects that we attribute as much an aesthetic quality to when they do not fulfill their intended function. Aside from the decorative moment, they stand for a long cultural history of the vase as a vessel of histories, to the point of the urn as a container for the human body. Hence, they are simultaneously a means of communication between the inside and the outside, the present and the past as well as agents of our architectural and human shell. The exhibition Vessel in Motion is dedicated to this characteristic of a bodily horn of plenty and the moment of potential activation between object and subject. Sculptural works by four international artists are shown that explicitly address the form, function, cultural history and contextual shifts of vases. The questions raised by those vases about animism, corporeality, feminism, representation and design are furthermore reflected upon and expanded in different ways through performative moments enacted by three artists. A site-specific exhibition display offers both a stage for those performances as well as an integration of the vases in the specific architecture of the KV.
